Holiday Inn Martinique

Would anyone recommend staying there?

Open to other suggestions for accommodation for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12 and 9). Stayed at New Yorker last year which was not too bad (although I had read the reviews before I went and expected much worse)

Please help.

I think you could do much better, location-wise. Especially with kids, it%26#39;s such a world of difference to stay in a pretty area that%26#39;s fun to explore at all hours. The Martinique and New Yorker are in low-end commercial districts... lots of fast food and commuters, but no real neighborhood feel. I%26#39;m sure your kids would prefer staying near to Central Park. How about the beautiful upper west side? Compare these UWS hotels -- Beacon, Belleclaire, Milburn, On the Ave, Lucerne, Excelsior, Newton. Or rent an apt. through www.ahospitalitycompany.com or similar site.

Myself and 3 friends stayed there in December 2002. Had slight problems checking in as they had ';mislaid'; our reservation, however we ended up in a penthouse suite as a result! Location wise we were really central, a 2 minute walk takes you to Macys and about 10/15 minutes into Times Square, plus the Empire State Building is round the corner! There%26#39;s also a subway station just over the road which is handy if you%26#39;re nipping about. All in all the hotel was good for us and we had a fab time. I%26#39;m heading back to NYC with my partner next Friday - can%26#39;t wait!! Hope you get your hotel sorted out soon.
