itinerary changes-what do you think?

Thanks so much for the feedback! I鈥檓 so excited to see the city I overbooked us a bit. I appreciate the reminders to slow down and enjoy. Here鈥檚 the revised schedule-please let me know what you think.

Monday

arrive at Hudson Hotel early evening, explore Times Square

Tuesday

early start 8:45 departure to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island-We鈥檝e got tickets to the observatory level-I鈥檓 so pleased the Statue is back open. I鈥檓 anticipating this trip to be about 4 hours-any thoughts?

1:00ish-6:00 start with lunch and then walking tour from Bowling Green and Hope Garden to Financial District, including time to visit WTC and pay respect to lives lost and the innumerable lives changed

Back to hotel to relax and then to Nicks vs. Heat at Madison Square Garden

Wednesday

10:00 to 3:00ish MOMA and maybe the Whitney (We鈥檒l see how much time we want to spend in the MOMA.) A quick walk in Central Park for fresh non-museum air

3:00-? walk through midtown (We dropped UN tour and International Center of Photography.)

evening: dinner and Empire State Building

Thursday

day: Chinatown for dim sum (any suggestions?), shopping and exploring, Chelsea, Greenwich Village

evening: New Museum of Contemporary Art, explore Soho

Friday

museum day!- Guggenheim, Whitney (if we didn鈥檛 go on Wednesday) walk in Central Park, American Museum of Natural History I know this is a lot, but they are so close together and I鈥檓 not sure when else to go. We鈥檒l have to come back for more time in CP.

6:00-9:00 Rose Center and Hayden Planetarium to see space show- sure yet which show-any preferences out there?

Saturday

Morning walk across Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Promenade (We dropped the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to have more time.)

11:00ish explore Grand Central Terminal and lunch, Whitney at Altria

1:00 or so-trip to Long Island to P.S. 1-Does anyone know if I can get a train etc. from GCT to the museum? My husband鈥檚 a huge contemporary art fan and he can鈥檛 miss this.

5:00-MET and dinner

Sunday-depart early morning

I鈥檇 love to go to a show but I don鈥檛 think we have the time-We鈥檒l just have to come back! Many thanks to all for your help.

I think your refined trip sounds wonderful; you%26#39;ll still be busy, but will have a more enjoyable time. You can check subway and train schedules at http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/

Enjoy your trip and have a great time!

Guggenheim and Whitney are over-rated and not worth the time...I%26#39;d go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art--much more variety and not as expensive.

Much better than before. However, Saturday still confuses me.

You have a 1 pm trip to P.S. 1 on Long Island. I lived on Long Island and I don%26#39;t recall the schools there having ';P.S.'; designations. That means public school and it is a designation used in the the five boroughs. Most of Long Island%26#39;s schools have names, not numbers. Are you positive P.S. 1 is in Long Island and not Queens?

Secondly, you ask if you can get a train from Grand Central Station to the museum. Which museum?

Ruffian, P.S. 1 is in Brooklyn; it%26#39;s been converted to a contemporary art museum. A friend of mine once taught elementary school there and I guest-lectured to the (mostly Hispanic) students about newspapers and the newspaper business.

As I recall, it%26#39;s beneath the Brooklyn-Queens Expwy not far from the Navy Yard.

Thanks, Geohab. If that%26#39;s what she%26#39;s referring to, at least she knows now that it%26#39;s not on Long Island.

FYI, it%26#39;s closed through March 12.

I hate to burden you with even MORE things to do, but.... except for the Metropolitan Museum, which you should set aside an entire morning or afternoon for, there are many fascinating museums along 5th Ave. you might want to explore. (That%26#39;s why it%26#39;s called ';Museum Mile!';) I wouldn%26#39;t miss the Cooper-Hewitt (http://ndm.si.edu/), the Guggenheim, or the Whitney (just a block from 5th Ave.). And, depending on current exhibitions, you might want to see the Jewish Museum, El Museu del Barrio, Goethe House, and the National Academy. I believe the International Center of Photography is now housed on 6th Ave. and 43rd St.
