From Warwick Hotel to Brooklyn Bridge?

How would you advise two 40 year old women to go from The Warwick Hotel to the Brooklyn Bridge? Is it a far walkfrom the hotel? We are going to walk across the bridge and then go to Grinaldi%26#39;s (sp?) for pizza and walk back across the bridge. We are a little skeptical of the subway - not so much the safety but afraid we may get off the wrong stop or something! Would a taxi be expensive?

I am trying to get an itinterary going - will be posting that with questions I%26#39;m sure.

Thanks for any advice!

From Warwick Hotel to Brooklyn Bridge?

It%26#39;s too far to walk, especially if you%26#39;re going to walk across the Bridge and back. But why spend the money on a taxi?

From your hotel walk four blocks east (5th, Park, Madison and Lexington) to Lexington Avenue and then go three short blocks north to 57th Street. Take the 4, 5 or 6 train downtown (just follow the signs) to the Brooklyn Bridge Station. Can%26#39;t be simpler. Can%26#39;t get lost. If you can%26#39;t find the Bridge--it%26#39;s been stolen.

From Warwick Hotel to Brooklyn Bridge?

My advice would be to take the #6 subway (walk to Lexington Avenue %26amp; 50th Street, about 8 blocks from your hotel, near the Citicorp Building) to the Brooklyn Bridge stop (stay at the front of the train to exit) and you will be at the entrance to the bridge. The bridge itself is about 1 mile in each direction. IT is very easy, much less expensive than a cab. You could walk from your hotel, but it is quite a distance.

Thanks - that sounds simple enough. How long do you think it would take us, we walk fairly fast, to get to the Brooklyn Bridge from our hotel this way? Also, is the wait at the pizza place worth it in your opinions? We will be arrive at Penn Station at 10:20am, plan to taxi to The Warwick, drop off our luggage, and then proceed to the Brooklyn Bridge. I am trying to plan out the whole day so just wondered how long you think all of that plus eating at Grinaldi%26#39;s would take?

The walk from your hotel to either the 57th or 50th Street subway stops shouldn%26#39;t take more than 15 minutes tops. Add another 15 minutes for the subway trip and 20-25 minutes to get across the Bridge (you%26#39;re going to stop and admire the views). Can%26#39;t predict the wait at Grimaldi%26#39;s (if any).

The reason I suggested the 57th Street station is that it%26#39;s an express stop so you can get express trains (4 or 5) to the Bridge. 50th St. is a local stop and only the 6 stops there.

Thank you so much! I have been reading the posts on this site and I will definitely be bugging everyone with lots of questions. I really appreciate your expertise on this!

We are also from NH and were wondering which train you are taking into the city? Are you parking in CT and training it in? Just wondering if there is a better way to get into NYC for those of us coming from NH or New England in general. We are lucky enough to be able to weekend it in NYC often due to fortunate locations. One other question...why the Warwick? Good deals? Have heard good things about it. thanks !!

Why not just grab a cab to Pier 11 at Wall Street? (It%26#39;s not a big fare.) Grab the water taxi that runs from Pier 11 at about 3:35 p.m. to Fulton Ferry (another few bucks) and you%26#39;ll be a few blocks from Grimaldi%26#39;s when you hop off. six or seven minutes later.

What you want to do is walk BACK to the city at about dusk. If you get to Grimald%26#39;s by 4:15 or so and stay there for about an hour this is doable.

SN1129 - we are driving to New Haven Ct and then taking the train in. We didn%26#39;t want to be on the train too long (to save money) and this seemed like the most we wanted to drive so....

as far as The Warwick we were just looking around the web and mostly on this site read a lot of good reviews - close to almost everything we want to go to

thanks!! we are thinking of driving to New haven or Stamford and training it in also. Or maybe doing the limo liner from Boston. Haven%26#39;t decided yet. We stayed at the Hilton in November and the warwick is just across the street some. We Loved the area!!!
