Trip Report

My 13 year old son and I just got back from this fabulous city and WOW! what a great time! I could write for hours about all the things we saw a did but, I don%26#39;t want to bore you, so here are some highlights.

New York Greeter Joseph was wonderful, he took us to Central Park and it just happened to be the opening of The Gates, lots of people, lots of media, what a nice temporary exhibit for the park. Joseph also oriented us with the subway so we felt comfortable and travelled the system on a daily basis. One bit of warning for subway users, DON%26#39;T LET A STRANGER SWIPE YOUR CARD! My son was having trouble passing go with the metro card so this nice man swiped it for him, unfortunately he gave him back an expired card and walked away with our 7 day pass. Oh well it added to, rather than spoiled, our New York Experience.

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn which was a great Hotel for the money and in an Ideal location. The Korean restaurants in the area (32 and Broadway) were excellent in price and quality. Went to the Golden Dragon for a huge bowl of seafood soup, that alone filled us up. Staff were friendly and helpful and introduced us to many new dishes.

Best comic book store in the world according to my son was in the same neighborhood, Jim Hanley%26#39;s Universe was everything my son could ask for and believe me he asked! The staff treated him like a long lost brother and took a lot a time finding out his interests and helping him choose wisely. Both of us did a lot of shopping there. Thanks Guys! Definately the highlight of my son%26#39;s trip.

The Tenement Museum Book Store and tour was wonderful, and the little cafe across the street was a nice, we sat in the lower level for lunch and had a quick game of scrabble.

And Finally SPAMALOT, It was a great ending to our fabulous week! We really enjoyed ourselves. We laughed the whole way back to the hotel, the cabbie must have thought we were crazy.

We bought a city pass for the museums and empire state building and found it handy(did not have to wait in line at MOMA or Guggenheim)

All in All we would do it all again in a NY minute! In fact my son has made plans to go again in April (Comic Book store has a book signing event) Thanks to everyone on this site for your guidance and insight. Our trip would never have been the same without you!

Trip Report

Oh, and sorry about the metrocard thing, but whoever reads your report should take this seriously, it happens not only to tourists but locals, too.

My husband and I saw Spamalot on Valentine%26#39;s Day and thought it was fantastic. I am glad we got to see it, it is surely going to be a hot ticket.
