christmas day-nyc or las vegas

I live in New York and my brother lives in Vegas. Christmas is festive in both locations.

New York is festive in the more traditional Christmas sense, and Vegas is festive in the VIVA LAS VEGAS sense. If you are going with family I suggest NYC, if you are looking to party with friends then Vegas it is. Either way you will have a lot of fun.

Christmas in New York is very special and very traditional. Many hotels and airlines great Christmas travel packages. Although Las Vegas is a lively and interesting locale, for traditional Christmas I would come to New York. On Christmas Eve in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village a group of neighbors gathers to sing Christmas carols. They pass out sheet music to people walking by and invite them to join in. Point being New York has big huge Christmasy things (like the tree lighting in Rock. Plaza) AND smaller, more quaint celebrations/events and everything in between...

As much as I love Vegas, New York City, despite the efforts of the ACLU, still has much more of a Christmasy feeling about it. However, when you go to Vegas, if you want a great dining experience, try Hugo%26#39;s Cellar on the lower level of the Four Queens Hotel, downtown. It will be a meal you won%26#39;t forget.

Hi,

I spent last Christmas day in Las Vegas, and it%26#39;s as far removed from festive as you can get ! The only reason I knew it was the festive season were the Santa and snow scenes on people%26#39;s sweatshirts!

Hope this helps.

Hey,I love Vegas,my dad and sister reside there, so I go often, but it does not matter the time of year, the strip is always the same! Yes, they have some decorations and Santas, but its Vegas, baby, and all that entails. For the traditional Christmas feel %26amp; spirit, no place beats NYC during this time of year, hands down, as attested to by many on this site.

I go to New York City every Christmas. It is the perfect Christmas city, with lots of old school shopping bustle, warm coats, welcoming fireplaces, great decorations, crisp walks in the park, wonderful plays, and excellent traditional Christmas Dinners in the grand hotels. Even if you stay elsewhere it%26#39;s worth it to reserve Christmas Dinner in advance at places like The Mark, The Carlyle, The Algonquin. I love Christmas in New York.
