who has best deals for hotels

Hi my friend and I are visiting NY in March and I have been doing lots of research on hotels but its such a mine field, we would like to stay in a 4* but only have a budget of around 锟斤拷 600 for two people for 5 nights ( is this possible ) and also stay central.

can anyone suggest a good travel service to book with either online or not, or is it better to book with hotel ???

A budget of $600 for five nights doesn%26#39;t buy much in New York and certainly not a 4-star property. If you can go up to $750 ($150 per night) you might try Priceline. Specify you want a 4-star property for $150 and you might get lucky. Also check Travelzoo, Hotels.com and Hotwire. Occasionally they will run ';specials.'; If you%26#39;re willing to settle for a 3-star property, you might find something in your current price range.

Booking directly with a hotel is always a good option if you have a short list of hotels approximately in your price range.

As a starting point, stay away from the New Yorker, the Milford Plaza, the Pennsylvania and the Carter. You might get lucky and find something close to your price range at the Michaelangelo, the Embassy Suites Times Square, the Kimberly, the Belvedere or the Roosevelt.

thanks for that but what i meant to say was 600 pounds around $ 1200 have you heard of octopuss travel ?

Its so hard you find a hotel, they look good on the net and then you read the reviews and they are awfull.

Unfortunatly I have been spoilt and like staying in plush hotels ( we all have our faults hey) but i dont know if 1200 dollors will get me this.

Have you checked out Hotel 41 @ Times square? It%26#39;s a small (47 rooms) boutique hotel, just off Times Square. The location is fantastic. It is only 3 star, but we were really impressed with it. Nice rooms (though small) and very clean. Cool bar and complimentary breakfast (coffee, OJ, bagels, pastries). It gets really good reviews on here....

I too like nice hotels, so was a bit apprehensive, but for the price I think it was unbeatable (in face we%26#39;re staying there again in April). For your budget you might get a %26#39;superior%26#39; room, a bit bigger than the standard ones....

Good luck!

try www.voyagenow.com

really good rates!

thanks everyone ,

have tried logging on to hotel 41 site but having trouble did you book direct or with an agent ??

Also is the business district too far out

I%26#39;m having a really hard time finding a hotel too. We have reservations at the HOJO Penn Station but after reading the reviews on here theres no way I%26#39;m getting anywhere near that place. We%26#39;re going in March also and have a tight budget (not really wanting to spend more than $600-$700 for 4 nights for 3 people). Maybe this is wishful thinking but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet is to select a few hotels in the area you have chosen with the amenities you want and call them direct. Once you have best price for all, call your preferred hotel and negotiate down.

Re: Hotel 41 - the first time we went I booked through expedia (a flight / hotel deal). For our second trip I e-mailed the hotel directly and just booked with them. This also means I didn%26#39;t have to pay up-front and can cancel if I need to, whereas with expedia you have to pay at the time of booking and there are no refunds.

Hope that helps.
