went last thursday had a reservation for 12:30 was amasing didt get a window seat but got one facing the window was quite busy and the waiters seemed happy with that. everytime i finsihed my water they would pop up and refil it. had the spiced beef salad which was superb!!!! followed by the duck, and the most impressive desert ive ever seen, THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE! delish! fished out meal and got the head waiter to book us a taxi back into Manhattan (wall street) cost 18bucks in a posh lincoln town car! leather seats and all which i thought wast two bad.

when your 19 and ur sat 3000 miles away from home in a resturant this good looking onto the best city in the world with the statue of liberty in the corner of your eye. life feels good. im not a rich person so i saved up for this, and enjoyed every second!

River Cafe - Pure Magic!

Okay, I%26#39;ve got to ask as I%26#39;ve been reading post for months about the River Cafe. Where is it? What is it? Is it any good?!!

We%26#39;ve had to delay our trip in September 05 until 19 December (spending Christmas in New York, it will be a dream realised) and we are looking for a special place to have lunch/dinner on Christmas Day.

River Cafe - Pure Magic!

HI,

I looked up river cafe on www.menupages.com and it comes up as East River Cafe 1111 1st Ave. Is the place everyone is talking about?

I%26#39;ve heard so much about this place that I want to add it to our itinerary. Bu I also want to be sure I end up in right place!!

Is it necessary to make a reservation?

Thanks.

It does not come up on menupages because it is in Brooklyn, not Manhattan: www.rivercafe.com

It%26#39;s amazing. The River Cafe never seems to disappoint anyone. The food is outstanding. The views are remarkable. But the other ingredient is the friendliness and attention of the staff. The waiters and maitre d%26#39;s are in a league of their own.

The River Cafe is in Brooklyn--not Manhattan--right on the East River almost beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. It is not on Menupages and is not the ';East River Cafe'; that Menupages describes.

A reservation is not only necessary, it%26#39;s necessary well in advance, especially if you%26#39;re talking about Christmas. And an added attraction is that if you choose you can walk off your meal by taking a stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan. The Brooklyn Bridge subway stop is right there at the end of the Bridge.

I%26#39;m interested in this place. Everybody seems to rave. However, I went to their website (rivercafe.com) and the portions look small. Am I right?

What is the dress code?

Thinking about lunch - best time?

I booked it for a Sunday brunch.

Will I be disappointed? Is dinner better???

I thought we would have brunch and that would cover breakfast and dinner and then go to the theater and stop and have dessert before heading back to our hotel. Does that sound feasible??

I booked the River Cafe for a Sunday brunch around 1:00.

Will I be disappointed?? Is the brunch as nice as dinner??

Our plan is to have brunch, do a little sightseeing, maybe Ground Zero then we have the theater that evening, stopping by Serendipity for dessert.

Does this sound feasible?

Dress code?

brunch

Lunch

Dinner

thanks everyone

If it were possible I%26#39;d shoot for a reservation that allows you to view the NIGHT cityscape from the restaurant.
