Subway 4, 5, or 6 from downton to Grand Central?

Okay, so far I think we will be starting around noon from The Warwick - taking the subway to downtown, then walking across Brooklyn Bridge, getting pizza at Grimaldi%26#39;s, walking back across Brooklyn Bridge. I%26#39;m guessing this will take around 4 hours or so. I don%26#39;t know if we will be walking back into the city across the bridge at dusk or not? If it is not that late should be hang around for the view? Is it safe?

My next questions; we get back downtown, find a subway station with 4, 5, or 6 to take us back uptown? Do these trains stop at Grand Central Station? If so, is it worth it to stop there, grab cheesecake from Junior%26#39;s (to bring back to the hotel for later)? What about getting out of Grand Central Station to see the Chrysler Building and walking back to our hotel? Or should we get back on the subway?

The Brooklyn Bridge is safe at sunset. Hang around for the view and if you%26#39;ve got the strength, walk back over. You%26#39;ll find the same Brooklyn Bridge subway station that was there in the morning. Take the 4, 5 or 6 back uptown. They all stops at Grand Central Remember, the 4 and 5 are expresses, the 6 a local. It%26#39;s absolutely worth it to get off at Grand Central Station. Not just for the cheesecake (and by all means do not miss Junior%26#39;s cheesecake), but for exploring beautiful Grand Central Station and yes, the Chrysler Building (although you can%26#39;t go up into it). Walk back to your hotel if your feet cooperate. If not, hop on the subway.

Thanks Ruffian42. Do you think we would be trying to squeeze in too much if after resting at the hotel for a bit we headed back out on foot to do the Empire State Building at night?

Also, I was wondering what you know about Soup Kitchen International? I thought if we were hungry before heading to the Empire State Building we may brave the lines for this famous Seinfield episode place?

Someone, possibly Bettina, posted recently that he closed the soup kitchen. I%26#39;m not sure. As far as heading out to see the ESB at night--your feet will tell you if you want to go better than I.

I think our feet will be okay - I just didn%26#39;t know if timewise we were trying to squeeze in too much in a day. We are only going to be there for two full days so we%26#39;re trying to see as much as possible.

If we decide to head out to the Empire State Building at night do you have any recommendations for a good, reasonably priced place to eat - somewhere between our hotel and the Empire State Building?

Thanks again. I really appreciate all of this help!

Apparently, the Soup Kitchen is closed until further notice with plans to re-open. Check out the website-

It%26#39;s just a bit out of the way, but if you enjoy Spanish food, there%26#39;s a tiny, neighborhood place in Murray Hill called El Pote on 2nd Avenue between 38th and 39th that has absolutely fabulous food at very reasonable prices. The paella is outstanding, the mariscoda in green sauce is sensational and the delicious Sangria will keep you happy. It%26#39;s charming and intimate with excellent service. Reservations are needed for weekends. It%26#39;s on the east side of second and you have to look hard for it because the entrance is small. Wonderful food.
