Milford Plaza or New Yorker

I am trying to plan a short family vaca for myself, hubby and 8 year old. Can anyone tell me if the Milford Plaza hotel or the New Yorker are decent? My main requirements for a hotel room are Clean, safe, and inexpensive. We are planning on going to AMNH, Statue of Liberty and Wax Museum in 2 days time. Can we get it all done? Thanks for the help!

Milford Plaza or New Yorker

according to the reviews and what people say on here I would say neither....hopefully someone will be able to point you to cheaper but nicer ones.

There is a web site I think its called priceline where you can get nicer hotels for low prices, you put in your requirements ie 3 star and what you are willing to pay and it finds you somewhere.

Milford Plaza or New Yorker

If those were my only two choices...I%26#39;d consider camping out.

Gun to my head I%26#39;d opt for the Milford. Don%26#39;t even consider the New Yorker. Try Travelzoo, Priceline, Hotwire and see if you can do better than these two.

There are three hotels that consistently get poor reviews. You%26#39;ve found two, the other%26#39;s the Carter!

However, of the three, the Milford Plaza seems the least objectionable, and it is right in the heart of the theater district, so just a few blocks to the wax museum, and easy transit access to the AMNH and Statue of Liberty. You might compare these theater district budget hotels: Belvedere, Novotel, Portland Square. They are all better reviewed than the Milford Plaza. (The New Yorker is a poor choice not only for the poor reviews, but the location%26#39;s not good either.)

Before you book a budget hotel, it%26#39;s a good idea to try priceline.com. Select only a top-star hotel in the Midtown West, Central Park South and Upper West Side areas. Your bid should be what you%26#39;d consider paying for a budget hotel. I can tell you that any of the top-star hotels in those areas would be ideal for you. You cannot go wrong. I know some people are worried about placing a bid without knowing the property, but rest assured you%26#39;ll get a fine hotel. I would add the Midtown East area too, but you could end up at the UN Plaza.... a great hotel with great service and views, but just a bit too far east for easy access to what you want to see.

Hi - Myself and my boyfriend travelled last year (April) to New York with another couple. We stayed on the Mildew , sorry Milford, Plaza and our friends stayed in the new Yorker. Our room was old , no view and tiny like a broom cupboard.

Their room was 3 times the size (they had a corner room) and although was not modern it was much cleaner that ours.

The only other budget hotel I%26#39;ve stayed in is the Wellington . This was recommended to us but people that had stayed their before, the location was fantastic , the rooms were better than the Milford and New Yorker but I can%26#39;t remeber how much we paid.

Their website is www.wellingtonhotel.com

Agree with the other posters about your choices...before you pick one, please consider hotwire. Hotwire will let you put in for a room for three people. It will let you choose the neighborhood and give you various star options at various prices.

The Web site betterbidding.com has a pinned Hotwire hotel list on its New York board that lists hotwire properties by their amenities. The folks on that board could really help you with your lodging options and getting the most value for your money.

Good luck.
