jazz venue/carlyle or vanguard

Looking to round off our stay with a visit to a great jazz venue.

Have noted village vanguard and also cafe carlyle on a monday night.

What do you reckon, I believe woody allen plays at the carlyle Mondays hence the 60$ cover charge.

Has anybody been?

Where would you recommend the jazz orchestra also sounds brilliant at the vanguard.

HELP PLEASE

Go to the Village Vanguard on Monday night. The big band has been there every Monday night for 33 years. They are fantastic and the band features some of the best jazz musicians in NY. Cover is $30 and that includes 2 drinks. Tip only on the drinks. The club has NO FOOD and you need to make a reservation. They don%26#39;t charge you at all until you arrive at the club. Shows are at 9PM and 11PM but you need to be there a half hour before.

You won%26#39;t be disappointed.

The Carlyle is a very posh hotel (always expensive, with or w/o Woody) and the Village Vanguard is a more typically casual jazz venue. Both are unique experiences. If you like a big band sound, consider Birdland on a Fri at 5pm. Great big band, not expensive. Here%26#39;s a website with a calendar you check your dates

THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR PROMPT REPLY.

Decided already with your help. Its got to be the Vanguard.

Many thanks, just about to book on their internet site.

Cheers
