Dec. Trip to NYC, Help!

We are planning another trip to NYC beginning of December. There are four of us (two couples) and we wouldn%26#39;t mind sharing a room to save money. We stayed the Marriot Marquis last time and loved it, but am looking to save a little money this time and stay somewhere that doesn%26#39;t necessarily have a big name and big price. Hotel 41 looks great, but only has one bed per room and that would be the same cost per couple as sharing a room with two beds at the Marquis, so basically I wouldn%26#39;t be saving if we stay there? Any ideas?

Also, we stayed in Times Square last time and really like the hustle and bustle there, should we stay somewhere else in Manhatten this time? I am not sure the ideal place to stay. I have no idea. Thanks for the help!

Dec. Trip to NYC, Help!

We stayed in the Herald Square Hotel on 19W 31st St. Its sort of between Macys and ESB. There were 4 of us in the room with 2 double beds and we only paid $160 per room per night. The hotel was nothing special but it had 2 double beds and a seperate bathroom with a bath and shower and it was cleaned every day. We definetly thought it was value for our dollar. I would have no problem recommending it or staying there again if I was to return to NY but I think you may need to get your skates on because it is probably one of the busier weekends of the year in NY.
