5 people in a cab

How many people can fit into a cab? Bringing the whole family into the city in March to see Hairspray. Have booked The Lucerne on the upper west side and will be coming into Grand Central from upstate ny. How do all 5 of us get to the UWS to our hotel? Do we all 5 fit into the cab or do we have to take 2 cabs.

I am also contemplating the river cafe for dinner after the matinee on Sat. How would all 5 get over there? Can we hire a town car to pick us up at the neil simon theater? About how much would that cost? And would dinner for 5 at the river cafe cost an arm and a leg? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

By the way, Bettina. I did try Perbaco and it was very charming, albeit way over in alphabet city.

You will need to get 2 cabs as they will only take 4 passengers Max, i was in new york last week and a person came over to the cab i was in and asked the driver if he would take 5 passengers, he said no cab would take 5 people. so yeah 2 cabs defo.

Tanj is right. They will get a ticket if they have more than 4 people in a cab. That%26#39;s the case even with the larger mini-van cabs. It%26#39;s just a NYC law, unfortunately.

Visited last week with my family of five. Definately need two cabs. It was frustrating because we even were in one van-type cab with five seatbelts for passengers, but they wouldn%26#39;t do it. Take the subway as much as possible. It got very expensive multiplying all our rides times two!

could you book a large private car to pick you up from the station - like you might do at the airport?

hey don%26#39;t take a cab tk a limo i was in new york not long ago with four other gals and we contemplated takin two taxis from jfk but in the end it worked out almost jus as cheap to tk a limo. we travelled in style and it was a great start to our holiday. however our driver didnt look like alfie (jude law ) lol have fun
