I was thinking about buying some MAC make-up before i go to New York.....BUT then i thought..

Is it cheaper in America/NY/Macy%26#39;s etc?

Your opinions on whether make-up is cheaper in NY would be appreciated!

I got some MAC make-up in New York last November and it was a good bit cheaper than here in Ireland, with the great exchange rate. With Sterling being so strong, I%26#39;m sure you would save money by waiting! Have a great trip!

There are enormous stores here called Sephora where you can get all the major (and some minor) makeup lines including MAC. I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s that much less expensive but you%26#39;ll have many many choices that%26#39;s for sure.

I do not think that they sell MAC makeup at Sephora, since MAC has their own stores. You are better off looking for MAC in major department stores, or finding one of their free standing stores.

ooops. karlab i think is right, they DON%26#39;T sell it there. sephora sells like EVERY other brand EXCEPT MAC. there%26#39;s a MAC store in Soho and maybe other neighborhoods. i bet they%26#39;ll have a store locator on their website...?

Sephora does sell some MAC products, because that%26#39;s where I buy it. I think Henri Bendel%26#39;s and Saks carry MAC as well.

MAC prices are the same whichever store you decide to buy from. MAC is sold at Bloomingdales, Macy%26#39;s, SAKS, etc...

It is definitely cheaper here...since it is an American company...(owned by Estee Lauder) plus with the exchange rate...

I have bought lipgloss from Singapore for $14USD. In Aust they are available for $24USD. Big difference in price. What are the prices like in US?

on a recent trip to florida i found benefit make-up a great deal cheaper. as an example something costing 16pounds in uk was about 12 dollars. also found mac a lot cheaper so i would expect prices to be the same in ny as they were in florida.

I got some Stila make-up in Sephora that was much cheaper than in the UK (probably about the same in USD as pounds!)

The best bargain though, was a special boxed set of Marc Jacobs %26#39;Blush%26#39; perfume (again from Sephora). I got a 100ml bottle of perfume with a 200 ml body lotion, plus a tiny bottle of perfume (perfect for handbag!) for the same price as a 50 ml bottle of perfume in the UK.

Sephora is a fantastic store if you like make-up!

I had a makeover done at Sephora in Vegas and it made a change from the UK stores where the assistants can only use products from their own range. She used products from all different ranges, gave me a list of them, and then left me to browse with no %26#39;hard sell%26#39; at all. I found the products we have in the UK to be cheaper there, and there were a few ranges we don%26#39;t get. The makeover service was free - they weren%26#39;t even allowed to accept tips!
