Furnished apartments

Has anyone here stayed in a furnished apartment instead of a hotel? I%26#39;ve found some websites that list what appear to be some nice apartments that rent for much less than most of the nicer hotels. Has anyone done this and what was your experience? Do any of the native New Yorkers have any experience with this? It sounds like a great deal, but I haven%26#39;t heard of anyone trying it, so I%26#39;m a little apprehensive. There will be 4 of us staying for 4 nights in September. I%26#39;m also thinking of bidding with Priceline - anyone have any luck with that?

Furnished apartments

Hi

I can%26#39;t say this is a recommendation, as we haven%26#39;t stayed there yet! But, we%26#39;re booked to stay at the Envoy Club in April. These are furnished, serviced apartments. We also looked into furnishedquarters.com but went with Envoy Club becuase their customer service (so far) was better. The rate is very good, we%26#39;re paying 179USD per night plus taxes for a studio apartment. They also have one and 2 bed apartments I think. The reviews on this site are fairly positive.

We chose an apartment becuase we aren%26#39;t that bothered about the hotel atmosphere (bar, restaurant, lobby area etc) but if that%26#39;s important to you then it might not be right for you. We also liked the idea of having our own kitchen where we could keep a bit of food and drinks.

Haven%26#39;t tried Priceline or the like so I can%26#39;t comment, but others on here say positive things about it, if you don%26#39;t mind the ';buy before you know'; aspect.

Hope this helps.

Furnished apartments

I stayed in an apartment last year(it%26#39;s actually classed as a B and B as they have breakfast things in the kitchen) on the UWS and it was nice having a separate living area and your own kitchen.

There%26#39;s a company called, I believe, Extended Stay America which has a chain of apartment/hotel-type facilities across the U.S. I don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;re in Manhattan but they might be worth a look. Stayed in one in Albany once and it was nice.

A friend uses A Hospitality Company (www.ahospitalitycompany.com) and loves them. They%26#39;ve got 100+ apartments all over Manhattan, many in doorman buildings.

No Extended Stay America in Manhattan, Ruffian, but it was a great thought! www.ahospitalitycompany is one of the sites I%26#39;m checking into, as well as some others recommended in the new Frommer%26#39;s Guide to New York City. There are a couple I%26#39;m interested in - one is on W. 56th between 7th and Broadway, and the other is in the 300 block of E. 55th St. Are these good locations?

Both excellent locations as far as neighborhoods go.
