orbitz is showing a price of 209. for a junior suite for the first week of may. anyone think this is a good price for this hotel. it gets great reviews, but how is the area it%26#39;s in. we previously stayed at the hilton and loved the location being close to everything. is there a subway station close by the dumont? thanks to everyone for info!

The hotel is on 34th St between 3rd %26amp; Lexington Avenues. The #6 train is on 33rd St %26amp; Park Avenue, 2 -1/2 blocks away. It is more of a residential area with lots of good restaurants on 3rd Avenue. There is a drug store across the street for anything that you many need and a supermarket 2 blocks away. You are 3 blocks from the ESB, 4 blocks from Macys %26amp; 34th St shopping, 9 blocks to Grand Central Station %26amp; the Chrysler Building, and you can walk to Times Square. The 34th St Crosstown bus goes east/west. It is a very good location, safe, and relaxing after a day of running around town. Also, about 10 blocks to the UN, if that interests you.

I stayed at the Affinia Dumont...It%26#39;s got very attractive, contemporary rooms and is small, so you%26#39;re not over-run with conventioneers and big families. Also, the New York Knicks%26#39; visiting teams usually stay there, so the hotel is geared toward fitness and exercise and has various programs along these lines.

Here%26#39;s a real find of a classic Italian neighborhood restaurant just blocks from the hotel: Notaro on Second Avenue bet. 34th and 35th Sts. Their fixed price menu (before, I think, about 6:30) is a great bargain and cited by reviewers as such.

I stayed at the Dumont in December - lovely hotel, friendly staff, great and very comfortable rooms, great location too - we went everywhere by foot or bus from there.

Wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to stay there again
