Advice for 1st Timers!

Would appreciate any help with my next few questions!

1)Am staying at the Sofitel and have booked the River Cafe- which is going to be the easiest way to get to the restaurant?

2)Boyfriend wants to go to Woodbury Common for Gucci/Armani - honstly is it worth it and how do we get there?

3) We are going for Easter- will the shops be open as usual ?

Thanks!

Advice for 1st Timers!

Welcome!

I%26#39;d like to share a comment about Woodbury Common, if I may: Most folks get there via bus from the Port Authority. But I cannot for the life of me, imagine flying halfway around the world to New York and then spending a day in that bland strip center.

Perhaps someone else in the group can point Deedle to in-town shopping for Name Brand leather goods? Like Syms?

Advice for 1st Timers!

1) Taxi it csots little and is very handy.

2) Port Authority Bus terminal 36 dollars return (might be cheeper if you ask for bus trip only as you get ';free'; discount book and tickets for ';free'; shuttle trips which we did not use) We did not shop at Gucci or Armani but saw loads of people with bags from these stores. It is an all day trip go on the early bus 08.30 I Think

3) don%26#39;t know

You will have a great time!

hiya we have asked this question before as i am going for easter too, they only really have easter sunday as holiday, so the shops will be shut then, other days open as usual, hope this helps. went to woodbury common at thanksgiving 2 years ago, crowds were crazy, but we enjoyed it, may not be as bad eater time. we are trying jersey gardens this time around have heard some good rports at it and there is no sales tax there, but i dont think it has the designer stores you are looking for. have a great time

River Cafe is best reached by taxi. If you want to take the subway you can take the 2 or 3 to Clark Street station or the A, C or F to Borough Hall, both in Brooklyn.

Keep in mind that visitors arriving from the U.K. are getting an 11% discount at the big department stores such as Macy%26#39;s and Bloomingdales. This may save you the trouble of wasting a day traveling to Woodbury Commons and back.

Tell me more about this 11% discount at Bloomingdales and Macys. What do you have to do to get it? Just show your passport or something?

just take your passport to customer services, and you get a discount card that can be used for all your stay

Thanks everyone so much for all your advice!

Cant wait to go!
