Best way from JFK to Upper west Side ??

We%26#39;re a family of four travelling from the UK to NYC on 26th March (Saturday). Presumably a yellow cab is the best way into Manhattan.

Roughly, how much should we expect to pay for this trip?

NYC requires all cabs to charge a fixed rate to go into Manhatten from JFK. I believe currently it is $45.00, plus the toll, (about $3.00) and tip.

And yes, a cab is the best way to go.

Caution- when you exit the terminal there will be guys approching you offering ';private car service'; into Manhatten. Ignore these guys, they are a rip off, and proceed to the taxi stand.
