what on earth are the red structures dotted around Central Park with fabric hanging down .

Is it some sort of building project or a new type of street game

They look just awful

Also I want to buy some Timberland boots where is best

It%26#39;s a work of art called ';The Gates'; and it%26#39;s saffron (orange), not red. I think it%26#39;s pretty cool - really brightens up the park, but to each his own... For boots, I%26#39;d say any department store, Macy%26#39;s, Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor...

Timberlands: anywhere on 8th Street between 6th Ave and Broadway.

Timberland has one retail store in Manhattan:

709 Madison Ave., at 63rd Street

The brand is sold in many retail stores, but you%26#39;d probably have the best selection at their own store.

It%26#39;s right near Barneys, not far from Bloomingdale%26#39;s.

re your timberland boots- i noticed someone earlier today posted a report saying they got great prices for timberland at the woodbury common outlets. maybe get them there if you plan to visit.

Just back and the best place we found for Timebrland was at Foot Locker- they had them from $69.99 which was cheaper than at Woodbury Common.
