Decent Restaurants in New York?

Gonna be arriving in New York on Thurs, cant wait!

Just wondering if anybody could recomend some nice places to eat? looked at the river cafe but if anyone has any others they like please reccomend them!

My girlfriend and I are 20 so are looking for places that suit our age if that makes any sense!

Two hip places are the Blue Water Grill and the Park Avalon.

Lots of young people; good atmosphere; good food. Not too pricey...and they%26#39;re downtown (not far from New York University/Greenwich Village--a great place for your to walk around--cafes/clubs/funky shops/great people watching).

You may want to pack some food. New York has a terrible shortage of decent restaurants. There are probably no more than four or five thousand of them.

What type of food do you like? How much do you want to spend on a meal for two people? Do you want romantic places or funky places? Do you want white tablecloth elegance or jeans and running shoes casual?

Look back a few pages to find the superb report by Voyagereuse on places to eat. I%26#39;ve chosen ones recommended by these knowledgeable people. I went on to menupages.com and printed out the menus before deciding which to choose.

My favorite Irish Pub is Rosie O%26#39;Gradies on 7th between about 54th and 57th. But it you walk along either 9th or 10th from maybe 49th up to 60th, you will find a lot of good places. They all have menus posted outside so you can see what they offer. And if you just keep looking down the side streets you will find even more, almost every nationality you can think of.

Two favorites are Hallo Berlin on 10th around 57th or 58th. Never crowded and they specialize in German food and have great German beers on tap. And the Delta Grill, 700 Nineth. They are a Cajun cafe and the gumbo is great.

In the other direction is the Greenwich Brewery at 56 Greenwich Ave between 6th and 7th. And around midtown is the Heartland Brewery (';The Best Brewpub in NYC';) at 1285 Ave of the Americas at 51st.
