I%26#39;m coming to New York in a week with my family (3 adults) and are thinking at staying at the Crown Plaza Manhattan. Havent booked it yet so any advice re that hotel would be good - please and thanks!!
Also just totally lost when it comes to where to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner around that area too - any advice?
Am sure i will post questions again so advanced warning and apologies for my ';helps';!!
Hotel and restaurant query??
Just arrived home from NY and stayed in the Crowne Plaza. Hotel was first class and for somewhere nice to eat go to Bubba Gumps on 7th right across the road from Toys r us. It is fantastic food.
Hotel and restaurant query??
The location is certainly excellent, though we have a corporate discount yet most of our travelers prefer the Michelangelo or the W Times Square. You might compare the rates at those properties.
Lots of dining choices in the area. For a quick cheap breakfast, try Pax, on 7th Ave. at 49th St. Zillions of choices for lunch and dinner. Anything special you like? My only advice is to avoid the fast-food places, like Applebees, Tequillaville, TGI Fridays, Houlihans, Olive Garden, etc. They do not represent the excellent food available in New York.
Thanks for that. Will have a look at those 2 hotels again before i book - brain is overloading with the choices! As for food would be nice to know of some nearby american type food restaurants and also somewhere for good italian pizzas!
Advice is to avoid chains. dont know about pizza but amazing american food at virgills bbq (46th i think) just got back yesterday but ate there twice it so good
I work three blocks from Virgils and it is quite good. I have had many business lunches at Virgils and have never been disapointed. I went to Virgils during X-Mas week with my son and had to wait a little over an hour for a table (we arrived at 12:15 and there were many tourists) but it was worth the wait. Just remember to bring your appetite!
Best pizza i%26#39;ve had in my life is right on your doorstep...Famiglia @ 1630 broadway (50th) you must try it...and get thegarlic knots there too.
Also, try Johns pizza, in a converted church, on W 44th Street between 6th %26amp;7th - highly recommended by the experts on this forum.
Thanks everyone for all your advice. Not long to go and getting very excited! Although doing the itinery is a bit of a nightmare - so much to see.
I second the vote for John%26#39;s Pizzeria! They don%26#39;t sell slices though. If you%26#39;re looking for a great single slice, I work across the street from Bella Napoli, on W. 49th St. between 6th-7th Aves. Their ';Mama%26#39;s'; pizza is wonderful!
